E–pub/Kindle [Pandarella] Ó Charlotte Guillain This is a cute version of Cinderella which is popular in my 5th grade classroom due to the upcoming film My students enjoyed comparing this story to the classic fairy tale that they know We also had a good discussion about point of view and how it influences the way events are described in a text I loved Pandarella's Furry Godmother

E–pub/Kindle [Pandarella] Ó Charlotte Guillain Charlotte Guillain ¹ 2 Read & download I get the idea of trying to mix up the original Cinderella story but I just did not like this interpretation of this book When I think of a princess I never imagine a huge bear Maybe a different animal would have been better?

Pandarella Read Ò 102 In Animal Fairy Tails beautiful illustrations and simple text retell classic fairy tales from a new perspectiv. I have chosen this fairy tale because it is not one I have read before or of the ordinary type of fairy talesIt is based on the famous Cinderella story from the brothers Grimm but it has a lovely twist in that it is about Panda s from Japan The story helps bring cross cultures into our classroom and reading it in a big picture book format with beautiful illustrations made me feel all warm and fuzzy about this non traditional Cinderella storyThe children can get lost in their exploration of Pandarella s different clothes compared to the standard Cinderella they see It would really engage students and I am sure it would ignite some heated debate in the classroom about the ugly step gorillas It would spark the introduction of differences in our cultures and we could do some comparisons to our traditional Cinderella story As we turn each page they will be bursting with excitement as they try predict what happens next in the story but the surprise will bewhat are they wearing next or what do you think the fairy godmother could be or what would a panda call her fairy godmotheronly to find the fairy godmother is called a FURRY godmother How cuteThe story still has the lovely notion of a poor young Panda who is not treated well by her ugly step gorillas There is a prince of course who hosts a ball and invites all the lady animals of the kingdom the ugly sisters and step mother make sure Pandarella does not go but Pandarella is rescued by her Furry Godmother Pandarella s wish comes true she magically receives a beautiful dressKimono and who could forget the precious glass slippers and a ride in a royal coach and off to the ball Pandarella has the time of her life dancing and talking to the prince all night but time runs away and she hears the bells and knows the magic will end soon As she disappears she loses her slipper and the prince picks it up Of course what would a story be if the prince did not pursue the one he loved They find each other with the fitting glass slipper and live happily ever after Pandarella never has to put up with the ugly sisters againI would read this book to Kindergarten aged children for an introduction to reading I would also use it in the Pre primary years as a class book that we can all read together because it comes in a big book format We can have a wonderful group read of each page and really just enjoy the reading of a lovely story
