Robert Silverberg ☆ 6 DOWNLOAD SUMMARY ç PDF, eBook or Kindle ePUB ☆ Robert Silverberg FREE DOWNLOAD Too Much Blood on the Mink Somewhere in Philadelphia a master engraver is turning out brilliant forgeries of US currency plates for an organized crime gang and the government wants to put a stop to it But how can they get close enough to bring down. Who would have thought that Robert Silverberg also wrote thrillers in addition to science fiction and fantasy Not me In any way a bunch of high uality counterfeit money appeared in circulation The uality was so high that even specialists had hard time to tell them apart from legal stuff Uncle Sam does not like competition it became imperative to find the typography with all the euipment and destroy it Also special service people were dying to have a heart to heart talk with the master engraver who created the forgeries Luckily a high ranking criminal from California was sent to the East Coast where the money came from to negotiate the distribution in the West Coast Even luckily nobody saw the guy before at his destination Thus during on the of plane stops a switch was made and a federal agent arrived to the negotiations instead This is his story I think his true name was only mentioned once during the whole book as he had to really live somebody else s life to have any hope of getting out of the assignment alive For starters he got into a dick measurement contest with the goons of the local crime boss I had not known it but it looks like this was still is the favorite pastime of a crime lord s goons as our MC had to do it through the whole book On the positive side he got to have sex with several gorgeous women sometimes crime does pay The way the MC had to operate especially by the end reminded me of the nameless Continental Op from Red Harvest by Dashiell Hammett To be fair I also have to say that the latter book is better To be even fair I have to say that this is not a criticism as very few crime writers could write as well as the founding father of American Noir One of the noticeable weaknesses of this book comes from MC remained the same guy through the whole story The Continental Op made self analysis by the end of his tale and admitted the corrupted town got to him he changedOtherwise the novel is never boring and for what it is a mindless entertainment works great 3 stars good but nothing to write home about The book also contains two short storiesDangerous DollEddie was a simple minded courier for organized crime He transported counterfeit money and plates for their printing between criminal organizations During one such transport he made a huge mistake and allowed himself to be seduced by a gorgeous woman before his delivery was finished Criminals never forgive such mistakesOne Night of ViolenceMike Keller was a traveling salesman Once upon a time he had to spend a night in a motel he had never stayed before In the middle of the night he heard a woman shouting for help and decided to investigate As a result he ended up right in the middle of two criminal groups trying to finish off each other Poor guy had to do some uick thinking in order to try to protect not only himself but also his wife and kids Both stories are decent but they did not influence my rating in either way Do not expect high literature or memorable characters however if you just want to be entertained you can do worse than this book Shadows uality counterfeit money appeared in circulation The The House on Tradd Street uality was so (Too Much Blood on the Mink) PDF ☆ Robert Silverberg Robert Siverberg's short novel 'Blood on the Mink' is an example of the type of crime fiction one might have seen represented in the 25 cent men's magazines of the 1950s It contains certain tropes Lots of guns and bullets Sneering smarmy one dimensional villains A virgin offering up same for protection A slinky bosomy sexpot Poor
