Texas Longhorn Surprise Summary Ð 5 On the Road To combine two lives first one must understand the components of each When Ryan Carpenter realizes the scientists he works for are torturing sentient beings he feels the need for penance in the form of helping the shifters free their comrades To th Fairly mild spoilers It had a good startRyan s problems interested me his feelings and worries made sense to me and he seemed a slightly different mix of the usual elements As the story progressed his character weakened a little in my eyes running together with the many we ve seen before and some of his conclusions were off Wish had been made of his trauma after its introductionAs for Sam initially his all out dramatic back story not unusual in this series caught my interest as well but its execution lessens the presented issue somewhat Partly because it is not addressed properly and in part because it ends up barely relevant to the actual storySo this feels like a case of the kitchen sink to me I d have preferred this particular plot to be given central attention and the necessary room in a volume of its ownAnd while I appreciate that the sex does not happen until late thus allowing greater focus on the relationship and what there is of a story I m not a fan of the conclusion of the way they try to fix Sam Seems improbable and somewhat lacking in respect to me I could imagine better ways Hell as it turns out even a little bit of communication would have workedSo the book did not really live up to the first impression it made on me which is a pity but it still wasn t bad for the light snack it s clearly meant to be After all rare slips notwithstanding these books are reliably inoffensive and this one fit that billAs a bonus Tee hee Repelling euipment is something entirely different from rappelling euipment Illicit for elicit made me chuckle tooI just love those little things I find at the very least one in each book by this author It s like a treasure hunt 3
